A exceptional success story links the name of Heraeus Quarzglas to Carl Zeiss SMT.
Signing a partnership agreement with Carl Zeiss SMT AG and being affiliated to the exclusive distribution program represents an important milestone in the longstanding relationship between these two technology companies. Quartz glass specialist Heraeus Quarzglas is now an “Official Carl Zeiss SMT Supply Chain Partner.” The long-term partnership with Carl Zeiss SMT supports technological advances in microlithography for both companies.
Long term partnership promotes and demands innovative approach
Heraeus Quarzglas has been supplying Carl Zeiss SMT with high quality quartz glass blanks since 1989. These blanks are used in microlithography for the optics for excimer laser steppers used in industrial chip production. Complex lens systems as high as one meter form the core of wafer scan-ners – special production facilities that are essential for manufacturing microchips in electronic devices such as laptops, mobile phones, and game consoles. The lenses contain up to 100 kilograms of highest purity quartz.
For Heraeus, the advantages of close cooperation, especially for long-term planning, translate into employment security. The partnership agreement is open-ended, but not taken for granted. Heraeus is the second of only two suppliers to be granted the coveted certification in this exclusive arrangement.
